Information on Tenbury Wells

Tenbury wells is a small ancient market town that is known as ‘the little town in the Orchard’, it’s famous for its 16th century bridge that has a feature bend in the middle.

It’s also one of the leaders in Mistletoe, Tenbury holds the Mistletoe Festival every year at the old cattle market, which plays host to a lot of quirky acts, to name a few, the festival offers reenactments of folktale legends, Mistletoe auctions, and singles meals along with theatrical pieces of drama held at the town Pump rooms.

The Pump Rooms is a distinctive and unusual part of the history of Tenbury Wells.  Built in 1862 to promote the town as a spa for the working classes. It’s generally used as a place for town council meetings in the main rooms and it’s also available to and registered for the public for civil ceremonies to be held.

It’s also home to the Regal, it was built in 1937 for cravens cinema limited. ‘Who were a cinema group based in Craven Arms, Shropshire, who owned six cinemas in the local area at the height of their success. The Regal operated as a commercial cinema until 1966, and then, faced with demolition, was bought by Tenbury Town Council in 1970 to prevent the site being cleared and used for car parking. Under the management of the Town Council, the building had an extended stage fitted to provide a location for live entertainment and also a community center built at the back, making it a multi-use venue.’
